In months of June, Jul and Aug , many EADs & APs are up for renewal due to July07 fiasco. So by moving dates forward, USCIS can cash in lot of reveue as it has to issue only 1 yr EAD in that case. If the dates are not current, they will have to issue 2 yr EAD and although they dont mean to approve many cases, I tend to think they will keep moving dates forward.

I am on OPT right now & my wife is on F-2 visa. We went to New York DMV to get her learners permit. They wouldn't allow her to get the permit as the school on I-20 is not in New York. Its so weird. They gave me NYS license due to my EAD card, but they say they cannot give her the license as the I-20 has to show the school in New York State. Anybody here has any recommendation??? Has anybody on F2 with I-20 from a different state gotten drivers license in New York??

Is IV a big organization ? Yes. Definitely. With more than 20K members it is a big org.
But what transparency do you or we need about contribution money ?
Overall I had not seen monthly contribution going more than 2 - 3 K per month in last 3 years. And I think that would be enough to maintain the server and software cost, that too if spend very carefully. Cause we have more threads than contributions and it does costs to maintain and keep servers / Software up.

That only 57 is required is not correct. The vote needs 60 to pass the motion. If no is totaling up only 37 but if yes is 59 still then it would not pass. Also if the senator is absent then it is considered a NO vote.
Did you check the link in the original post? It clearly says " Required For Majority: 3/5" meaning 3/5th of the votes is required to pass it. All vote counts in the senate are relative, never absolute. Simple passing of a vote requires 1/2 of the votes and cloture motion requires 3/5 of the votes.

Can someone explain what "Temporary Restrain Order" would do if it were successful. It sounds to me that the lawsuit is asking the court to temporarily invalidate the July visa bulletin so that USCIS will be forced to accept the applications. Is this a reasonable understanding? Any lawyers here?

I can understand the excitement. I am also in EB2 2005 PD. But the fact is that, this seems like a temporary movement only...i don't think dates can stay at 2006, going by simple math.
PPl can give me those red marks, but i think dates will retrogress again by Oct.

The senator is missing it or dodging it - it clearly means one thing -we are invisible as constituents. We are being taken for a ride only because we do not speak up or go meet our lawmakers. They do not see us as ordinary constituents having the same issues as their other constituents. The whole human -angle is missing.
We have to go meet our lawmakers and explain to them our part of the story/ They need to be told and made aware that we live in their constituencies and our grievances are genuine and need to be addressed.
And although this particular bill does not affect people that are here already.. Beware!! the noose is tightening- the next on the chopping block is EB Immigrants.To answer your question: Indian companies in India or Indian politicians complaining will not do much impact. After passing this bill politicians will cosy up and say good things to rebuild relations. The real impact can happen if Indians in New York state who can vote stand up against such laws. Same goes for the Desi companies who have tried to raise the voice against USCIS memo. They lack grassroots advocacy and support. Their Indian US citizen friends are busy organizing Diwali melas and Shahrukh Khan stage shows. Immigration voice can be extremely successful if politicians see us as an immigrant lobby. Just like they see Jewish lobby or Hispanic lobby. This is why participation of IV greencard members and citizen friends is important to advocate for changes that helps the immigrant community. I this case too, IV community should not turn a blind eye to what happens around us. Just because we do not work for such companies or we already have EAD does not mean we do not see beyond the headline of this issue. We spend more time analyzing , over analyzing, predicting and tracking rather than actively understanding the politics of issues that are causing all the problems we are facing. That contradicts US Embassy provisions of H1 stamping, when you first go for the visa interview. Doesn't the US Embassy/Consulate state that you should be able to prove your intent NOT to abandon your country of origin, show you family ties, financial connections. Am I right? I can give a ton of links from US Consulate web sites with those exact words.
Now, what you are talking is dual intention: get H1B visa and get on the permanent residence highway, at the earliest opportunity.
It's OK to start with an empty kitty in SS and Medicare account, just when are about to get your Green Card than to walk back to your country losing 10 to 20 grand of your own money after 6 or 7 years. Uncle Sam should not collect SS Tax and Medicare from temporary workers. Period.

Once the window is open. They pre/adjudicate as per the Reciept Date. Also if all backgrounds checks are over...then among other attributes it falls within the "low hanging fruit" area for quick pre/adjudication.
See the Standard Operating Procedures link posted above for a clue. Also recently the NSC confirmed this. Will post the link as soon as I find it.

This actually helps keeping one out of depression in the illusional state. but unfortunately fact is fact.
As far as I know, I am pretty aggressive in investment and I am getting @15% right now.. which too in a very unconventional ways.. by investing in forex and start ups with a risk of loosing nearly 80% of the investment in a day. when you 100K-200K and get returns like 100k.. dude that 100%-50% investment.. please let me know where can I do that.
I promise I gonna leave everything and go back with my money make investment in that and live the rest sipping feni by goa beach.
It is not a big deal dude...if not for this immigration system, we could be making even more..think about $80-$100/hr if you are an independent contractor. This a minimum for a decent contract with vendor directly.
And if you have ~100-200K for investments, with some experience and any luck..you could be making another 100K out of it from trading and active investing in other areas. That comes to ~250-300K minimum. There are no bounds when life is free and in this great country. Unfortunately, things have turned discriminative and our potentials are being restricted(atleast for non-EAD guys) and you have to be prepared for getting outright kicked out of this country.
