I am very intrigued by this thread and I would love to see a change in status quo too. However, I am missing one very important piece of information....Who are the proposed candidates and what is their agenda??
Mbawa, please don't take this as criticism but how exactly would a change in the IV core improve the current status quo? If you have any ideas, what has stopped you from using IV as a platform and taking a lead?
Again, I would love to see things improving for the EB folks but I really missing the point on how this suggestion would get us there. I have great respect for the IV core as I know it and personally I will never be able to do even 10% of the job they have done. SO if there are folks who can do better than the present core, I would love to hear their ideas and contribute to the cause.
If this is just one of the several threads that are started with no real effort or thought put in to come up with an actual and feasible solution, then this is doing more harm than good. Again I am really open to listening like a lot other silent/passive members.

This is not a transparent organisation, we do not know who the president or the exec committee of this organisation is. Every now and then, we hear about stating the facts in our profile before posting questions.
But we know very little about the exec committee, the 'About us' has the agenda that IV is fightin for, nothing at all about the people behind it.
Who do i thank for such a nice organisation? I have no idea.
coming to the nomination for the exec commitee, there are lots of self motivated people around here, motivation can come from people languishing with unjust RFEs, name check limbos, 10 year old petitions, members who know they can add to the organisation, and the core, they would know people who they think are capable of carrying the torch on with equal or more zest.

At least I won't give u red dots if you can enlighten us how to get us out of this mess. And yes, we do want our green card so I don't think we can stop the process or stop spending money on that. Also please advise us how to bring all 70K people under one umbrella?
I dont mind getting Red Dots, But please, for god's sake. Stop doing this fruitless campaign. Do you guys think Giving a Clock or sending flowers solved earlier problems. Enough of this Gandhiian ways. This country is not good for people like Gandhi. May be Flower campaign got noticed and created a whole new experience for the USCIS, but i dont think it really helped them do anything in our favor. Already, folks here are wasting their money, year after year, on their EADs and APs for them and their family. Just think for a second guys, It costs us 1000 $ to maintain status on AOS and visit our family and this is going on indefinitely for our years now. USCIS/Congress does not want to do anything about this, They are happy to get the revenue. Even if you think a minimum of 200,000 people spending 1000 $ an year, it is 200,000,000 $. Iam not even considering the amount they spent on other things like H1B extension, H4s..... Just think about the Dollars they are making on this Green Card SCAM. Accept it or not, it is indirectly affecting our lives, even though, GC is not really important for lot of folks. Iam one such person, I have a good client and a decent employer and iam with the same folks for 9 years and they are happy extending my H1b at their cost. But still, this whole GC game, is sometimes disturbing. They are playing with our emotions and our loved ones. So, GUYS we need to take a bigger and bolder step. To me, Calling people, sending flowers and letters explaining the situation makes no sense. Do you think, those guys dont really know about our situation. Let us a make a bold move. We are 70,000 folks just here in ImmigrationVoice. Let us compile a letter,that pushes USCIS/Congress on improving the condition. As long as they get those EXTRA Dollars, i dont think anything is going to happen. Even if they remove the provision to apply for GC while on H1B, it is good for us, for we will know that in advance and can plan on shaping our future better, instead of this false promise and emotional torture. I think even AILA or other Lawyers are useless. They dont want to do anything for us. All they do is, interpret the LAW , and explain us in the way we can understand. They dont take steps to fight for the justice. All they care is the money. So let us make our point clear to USCIS, we dont want to waste money on EADs and APs and H1B extensions. To me, it should be free of cost, since it is their problem that they dont work efficiently. all what i did is the following :
A-filed the application and paid it on line. I called the cgnfs to check on the required documents.
B- part of the cgnfs application is need to be sent the the Nusring Board of education in the state you are licensed in. Call the nursing board of education in your state, usually there is a fee for varification of licneses.
Ask them if you can include an express paid envelop so there wont be any delays. Explain to the nursing board that you need it fast so they finish it fast.
C-Your transcripits has to be sent from your college.(do not send it yourself). I went to my college, ordered my transcripit and went to the nursing office and had them express mail it the same day.
I believe you need your high school diploma as well. Call the cfnfs and them for they exactly wants from you.
You do not need Toefl if you are educated in the US.
My experience with them is that they are fast if you are US educated because they do not really have to evaluate your education.

Well this is very confusing.
What if a person files the I-140 after May 15th and his/her I-140 is approved. Later assume that I-485 date becomes current for that particular person (before Oct 2008), he/she files for the AOS/I-485 (before Oct 2008). While the I-485 petition is pending the date Oct 2008 comes what happens then? Will this nulify the filed I-140?

Concurrent filing can be done by anyone with approved Labor Certification. Schedule A applicants already have pre-approved LC.
This means, that not only Schedule A can file concurrently but also others as well.

I doubt how effective a letter campaign would be.
We did letter campaign's couple of times and it didn't bring any coverage or change.
I still believe a clock (backward or distorted) is a good idea.
I agree that calculator /flower campaign can fail. But poster (actually pamphlet) and letter campaign will cost only 41 cents stamp from us.

Congratulation to 9years and Vayumahesh. Thank you both for documenting your journey. My EB2 perm was applied from the new company i have joined and it is approved this month. Hopefully i should be applying for I-140 next month.
I have applied my 485 in July 07 but i was not married at that time. I am married now and my my wife is on H1B. When should i add her or amend my I-485.

When you become current and before you get your GC approval notice, you should file 485 for your wife.
