On April 15, 2010, the Department of Homeland Security issued the USCIS �Annual Report on Characteristics of Specialty Occupation Workers (H-1B) for Fiscal Year 2009.� The summary reports on information including the countries of origin, occupations, education levels, and compensation paid to those who had approved H-1B petitions in FY 2009. The report includes the following facts: approximately 48 percent of all H-1B approved workers were born in India; 41 percent were for workers in computer-related occupations; and 41 percent were for workers with a bachelor�s degree and 40 percent had a master�s degree. Hi,
I am a F1 PhD student The company we've been cooperating with gave me an internship offer for this summer working as an independent contractor under CPT for three months.
The univeristy international offer and the career office are both OK with this but I saw some opposite opinion online. Could someone give me a clear answer: is this legal F1 student under CPT working as independent contractor?

Due to the big mess of July visa bulliten. Can I file multiple 485 cases to secure that one of my AOS case is accepted? Since once it is rejected due to improper filing, the next visa bulliten would be back to 2006 or 2005.
My situation is:
First I-485 case: I can file I-485 as principle applicant, and my spouse can file as dependent
plan to submit at the end of this week (Aug 11, 07).
Sencond I-485 case: My spouse can file as principle applicant based on his I-140, and I can file as dependent, plan to submit before Aug 17, 2007, with cover letter stating:
If the first AOS case based on xxx's I-140 is accepted, please withdraw the second AOS case based on YYY's I-140.
Is it doable? any potential issue? Thank you very much for your comments and advise. Urgent!!!

I had breakfast today with a few advocates and an Obama Administration official who noted that the immigration summit will now be held on June 25th. Encouraging. I also learned that the current expectation is that the immigration reform bill will likely start in the Senate and that Senator Reid is hoping for reform legislation to be considered in the fall.

Could one of the lawyers/expert please provide their opinion on my situation?
In 2004, my H1B extension was denied and later on approved in Nunc Pro Tunc. The nunc pro tunc process took a total of 64 days and when approved my I-94 was NOT back dated. Hence, I do not have I-94 for 64 days. Later on in July 2007, I filed for my I485.
Since my approval, I have not traveled outside the country and I am currently on EAD based on my pending 485.
The question I have, it's bothering me a lot, Will the gap in I94 for 64 days cause any problems in my I485 approval?
Please advise.
